Lahore: Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and the world's youngest Nobel Laureate, married Asser Malik, the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) general manager high-performance, in a low-key nikah ceremony in Birmingham.

Malala Yousafzai, who won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17, became a global celebrity after an assassination attempt on her in 2012 in retaliation for her activism when she was only 15 years old. Her head had been pierced by a bullet, and she was airlifted from Pakistan to Birmingham in critical condition.

"Today is a precious day in my life. Asser and I exchanged vows to be life partners. We had a small nikkah ceremony with our families at home in Birmingham. Please send us your well-wishes. We're looking forward to embarking on this journey together "Malala Yousafzai said.
