Telecom maker Nokia and telecom service provider Vodafone Idea on Wednesday announced the completion of the installation of 'Dynamic Spectrum Reforming' (DSR) technology under the first phase in the country. Better use of the available spectrum from DSR technology serves customers better, including data. Under the contract, Nokia has installed 5,500 TD-LTE Massive MIMO (state-of-the-art 4G technology) cells in the 2500 MHz spectrum band in 8 circles. These eight circles (service areas) are Mumbai, Kolkata, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West), Rest of Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

Vodafone Idea Chief Technology Officer Vishant Vora said in a statement, "DSR provides us with greater network capacity and data (internet) speed, through which we will be able to provide better network service to our customers. Vodafone Idea is the first company to test the DSR technology. 'This technology will allow Vodafone Idea to share spectrum under different technologies according to' traffic '.

Vodafone Idea can also easily adopt 5G technology using DSR and 'M MIMO'. Nokia vice president and company head in India, Sanjay Malik said, "At a time when 'connectivity' is important, the deployment of DSR and 'M MIMO' will enable Vodafone Idea to enhance the network capacity of its customers." Data usage in the country has increased rapidly in recent times according to Nokia's Mbit Index 2020. In the last four years, 'data traffic' has increased 44 times, which is the highest in the world.
