New Delhi: Rajiv Suri, chief, and CEO of a well-known mobile company Nokia, has resigned from his post. Rajiv of Indian origin was associated with Nokia for the last 25 years. Experts related to the case say that Rajiv Suri will relinquish his current post on August 31, 2020. However, Suri will continue to serve as an advisor to the Nokia board until January 1, 2021.

The company has accepted the resignation of Rajiv Suri. Experts say that Pekka Lundmark will take over his position in place of Suri. Pekka will start his tenure from 1 September 2020, following Rajiv's withdrawal this year. Presently, Lundmark Espoo is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Fortum, a major energy company based in Finland.

After giving more than a decade to the company, Suri had already indicated to the board that he is considering to step down from his post at any time in the future. However, he insisted on implementing a concrete succession plan for this. Nokia's board of directors has handled a structured process for CEO succession and is working closely with Suri to develop internal contenders and identify external contenders. On March 2, Nokia's board of directors has decided to go ahead with the appointment of Pekka Lundmark.
