Seoul: North Korea's citizens were urged on Friday to put up their best efforts to carry out the country's five-year economic plan in the spirit of "unconditionality, thoroughness, and precision." According to sources, the North's governing Workers' Party's Rodong Sinmun stressed that only 50 days remain until the end of the first year of its five-year plan, and urged for a "aggressive spirit" to achieve the goals.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un recognised a failure in his previous development plan at the country's ninth party conference in January, and revealed a new strategy concentrating on self-reliance in the face of a protracted border restriction due to Covid-19 and worldwide sanctions. "The party's demand is for progress in every sector and unit, not just one," the news reported. "Let us end this year's war on a high note of unconditionality, thoroughness, and precision." In another storey, the newspaper stated that many of the tasks set forth in the realm of science study have been finished, and that those that are still in progress are generally nearing completion.

Vice-Premier Pak Jong-gun condemned inadequacies and the "irresponsible attitude" of some workers during a Cabinet meeting last month to review the country's economic performance in the third quarter.
