Seoul: Amid the deepening food crisis in North Korea, the country has given rise to the general public eating from emergency military reserves. South Korean intelligence agency reported in this regard on Tuesday. The food crisis in the country has been created due to hot winds and drought conditions. The corona epidemic has also dealt a major blow to the country's economy. But there have been no reports of large-scale starvation and panic.

Observers have expressed hope that the crisis in North Korea will deepen until the next crop is harvested. Seoul's National Intelligence Service (NIS) told a confidential meeting of the parliamentary committee that North Korea is using rice reserves used during the war for civilians, other workers, and rural government agencies. Ha Tae-keung, one of the lawmakers attending the meeting, cited NIS as saying that paddy, maize, and other crops have been destroyed and cattle killed due to hot winds and drought conditions in North Korea.

He further said that NIS said that North Korea's leadership considers fighting drought a matter of national survival and is focusing on raising public awareness about its campaign.
