Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy, while participating in a discussion on minority welfare on Tuesday, reminded him of the government's promise to bring a separate minority sub-plan. He said that the government had proposed to give 12 percent reservation to Muslims. Reddy said the 60-page report was submitted by the Sudhir Committee, which studied the condition of minorities, but the government did not act on it. He said, “Due to lack of incentives to Muslims relocating to urban areas, auto drivers, mechanics are finding their livelihood as road, fruit and tea vendors.

He said, the government is spending crores to provide livelihood for running schemes like fisheries, dairy farms. But there is no such separate scheme to generate livelihood for Muslims. Reddy asked the government how many Muslims were working in the IT industry. He said, “Even 10 percent of Muslims are not getting benefit from all the welfare schemes run by the government. Based on their population, he asked the government to allocate Rs 10,000 crore annually to generate self-employment for Muslim minority welfare. Said; 25 percent allocation in the housing scheme implemented in urban areas.

MLC demanded protection of Waqf properties. For this he asked the government to confer judicial powers to the Waqf Board to empower him to restore the waqf lands. He asked the government to increase the monthly honorarium of Muslim and Christian priests from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000; The Urdu Academy and the computer centers run by it were asked to be reactivated.
