Hyderabad: You will not need to show travel tickets and identity cards or boarding cards for air travel to enter the airport. Your face will soon replace the air ticket and boarding card. Yes, under the Digi Yatra Scheme, the scheme will be made possible through face recognition technology. Trial of face recognition technology has begun at Hyderabad airport.

According to a senior Hyderabad airport official, the trial of face recognition was started on July 1. The trial will continue until July 31. So far, more than 2500 passengers have registered for the Face Recognition Trial. That includes several Tollywood stars. He said, at present, the trial includes only passengers going to Delhi, Mumbai, Bagluru, Chennai, Vezag and Vijayawada airports.

He said, face recognition counters have been set up at The Domestic Departure Gate Number One and Three at Hyderabad Airport. Travellers visiting six airports from 8 am to 8 pm can register themselves. He said, for the registration of face recognition, passengers will have to provide their government-issued valid identity cards, contact details. After which their face will be recorded with the camera.
