New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has created a 'device' that will detect their boats and warn them by sending them messages to prevent deep-sea Indian fishermen from crossing the international maritime border with Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Naval officers have informed a committee of Parliament in this regard.

The committee had submitted its report in Parliament recently. According to the report, naval officers told the Standing Committee on Defense, "Our international shipping border is adjacent to Sri Lanka and Pakistan. All those boats are fitted with automatic detection system (AIS) which is more than 20 meters high. However, some mischievous elements cross the international maritime boundary line. These are the same people who use boats less than 20 meters in height."

Officials said that, therefore, the Indian Navy has taken a new initiative with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). It states that ISRO has now developed a module under which a transponder system has been developed which helps in locating the position and location of those boats, as well as sending them alert in this regard.
