Rohit Shetty to now work on real-life hero's biopic

Rohit Shetty and Reliance Entertainment have come together once again to produce a biopic on one of Mumbai's most respected top cops and former Mumbai police commissioner, Rakesh Maria.
 
The biopic will be based on his skilful career experiences and will be directed by renowned movie producer Rohit Shetty himself. Talking about Alan, producer and director, Rohit Shetty said, "Rakesh Maria: The man who saw the terror on the face for 36 years!! His incredible journey extends from the 1993 Mumbai blasts, the underworld threat to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008. Feel really honoured to bring this real-life super cop's brave and fearless journey to the screen!! "

IPS officer Rakesh Maria has passed the civil services examination from the 1981 batch. As deputy commissioner of police (traffic) in 1993, he solved the Bombay serial blasts case and has later gone to the DCP (Crime) of the Mumbai Police and the then Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime). Maria also worked to solve the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazar twin blast cases. Maria was also given the responsibility of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008 and questioned Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist caught alive and successfully investigated the case.
 
Rakesh Maria commented, "It's exciting to relive the journey, especially when it's going to be helmed by a brilliant director like Rohit Shetty. More than nostalgia, it is also a valuable opportunity to put before the people the extraordinary work of the Mumbai Police while facing tough challenges and working against all odds. ”
