Sonia Gandhi said that the threat of hacking our democracy using social media is increasing. She said global companies like Facebook and Twitter are being used by politicians, political parties to shape the political narrative. She said it has repeatedly come to notice that global social media companies are not giving equal opportunities to all parties.

Sonia Gandhi further said that the way social harmony is being disturbed by Facebook in connivance with power is dangerous for our democracy. The Congress interim president further said, "Thank you for allowing me to raise an issue of paramount importance.'' Let me tell you that Congress has suffered a humiliating defeat in the assembly elections held in five states. However, top Congress leaders have again reposed faith in Sonia Gandhi's leadership.

At the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Congress members have urged her to continue as president. At the CWC meeting, the offer of resignation of Sonia Gandhi by Congress leaders was rejected. After the meeting, all congress leaders said that the party's trust in Sonia remains intact.
