The Indian Olympic Association wants the Ministry of Sports to increase the time limit for answering questionnaires for information on age and tenure of officials of the National Sports Federation. It is very important for the pending case on recognition of National Sports Federations in Delhi High Court. The Ministry has asked 57 NSF to reply to this questionnaire by 11 August.

The temporary recognition of these National Sports Federations was withdrawn on the directions of the High Court for violation of the age and tenure guidelines of the National Sports Code. The next hearing of this case is on August 21. However, the Indian Olympic Association wants the National Sports Federation to be given more time, as they are working with fewer staff because of the Coronavirus.

The Indian Olympic Association wants to have a meeting with Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to discuss the matter. The Indian Olympic Association said, "This is a sensitive issue and we all need to be together, because many of the issues raised in the questionnaire are not part of the Sports Code." This case is now going on in the Delhi High Court, and we need to remain alert. Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra and General Secretary Rajeev Mehta said in a joint statement, "We suggest that all the National Sports Federations should immediately seek four weeks to respond, as the staff of the National Sports Federations office continues to work due to Corona." At present, nothing has been decided on this issue, only after the meeting will be certain.
