NSUI's indefinite hunger strike, demands to postpone NEET and JEE exams

New Delhi: Congress affiliated student organization National Students Union of India (NSUI) has started an indefinite hunger strike from Wednesday demanding the postponement of NEET and JEE main exam and waiving six months fees of students during the Coronavirus epidemic.

Neeraj Kundan, the head of NSUI and the head of the Delhi unit of this student organization, along with eight other members, started a hunger strike. He has also demanded that universities must not conduct examinations during the Corona epidemic. Last week, NSUI wrote a letter to PM Modi demanding the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The letter also sought to promote final year students on the basis of previous years' performance.

In view of the concern raised by a faction of students and parents due to the global pandemic Coronavirus, other leaders of the party, including former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, also urged the government to postpone the top medical and engineering entrance examinations. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has also requested the Central Government to cancel the medical and engineering entrance examinations.
