NT Rama Rao did more than 300 films. He has also written screenplays for many films and has also produced many films as a film producer. The Government of India honored Rama Rao with the Padma Shri in the year 1968 for his contribution to Indian cinema. Apart from Telugu, NTR also did Tamil and Hindi films.

Rama Rao got recognition after playing Krishna. He played the character of Krishna 17 times in his career span. Later, NTR left mythological films and started doing roles in Heroes. Rama Rao worked as an artist, director and producer in his career. NT Rama Rao started his career as an actor in the year 1949 with the Telugu film 'Mana Desam'. fter this, in the year 1961, NT Rama Rao made his directorial debut with the film 'Sitarama Kalyana'. He directed many brilliant films. Significantly, his last directorial venture was 'Samrat Ashoka'.

NT Rama Rao got married in 1942. He had 8 sons and 4 daughters. His wife had passed away in 1985. In 1993, at the age of 70, Rama Rao married Telugu writer Lakshmi Parvathy, but NTR's family never accepted Lakshmi. NT Rama Rao also had a very successful career. NT Rama Rao founded the political party Telugu Desam Party in the year 1982.

After this, he became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the first time in 1983, second time in 1985 and third time in 1994. His Son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu removed NTR from both the posts of CM and party president. Rama Rao with his second wife Lakshmi Parvati was on one side and his entire family was against him on the other. He breathed his last on January 18, 1996 in Hyderabad at the age of 72.
