Bhubaneswar: After violence broke out in Odisha's Sambalpur, the district administration has extended the suspension of internet services till 10 a.m. on Tuesday (April 18). After the attack on the Hanuman procession here, the administration is constantly monitoring the situation. According to officials, a total of 85 people have been arrested so far in the incident of violence. However, in view of the 'improvement of the situation', the administration has made a concession in the time of curfew.
After the curfew was relaxed, people can now go out of the house for regular work from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Earlier, people were allowed to go out of their homes from 8.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Sambalpur DM Anaya Das has told that the Home Department has decided to suspend internet services until Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. He said that internet services have been suspended since April 13 following the violence that broke out during the 'Bike Rally' being taken out on Hanuman Jayanti in the district, so that any objectionable or inflammatory message could be prevented from being telecast on social media.
