BHUBANESWAR: After winning the presidential seat, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, constituted Zilla Parishads in all 30 districts, officials stated on Sunday.
The BJD is able to organise councils in all districts smoothly because it has the magic number of Zilla Parishads members in each district, authorities stated. For the first time in Odisha's history, a single party has created ZPs in all of the state's districts.
Saraswarti Majhi, a 23-year-old tribal girl, has been voted the youngest Zilla Parishad President in the state. As a graduate of science, she will now lead development efforts in the Maoist-infested Rayagada district.
Thanking the Chief Minister for appointing her to such a significant position, Majhi stated that she will work to assist people of all ages and to further the development of Odisha's tribal-dominated area. Majhi is located in the district's distant Kashipur block.
Similarly, Samari Tangul of the Maoist-affected district of Swabhiman Anchal has been chosen President of Malkangiri's Zilla Parishad. Tangul stated that she will endeavour to guarantee that all basic services are available to the residents of her district. The party recruited these young faces from rural locations in the hope that these areas will experience additional development initiatives under their guidance in the coming years, a senior BJD leader stated.
