BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday announced candidates for mayor in three municipal corporations: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Berhampur, which will hold elections on March 24.

Sulochana Das, the BJD's spokesman, has been named as the party's candidate for mayor of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). Das is now the chair of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.

Subash Singh, a Rajya Sabha member, has also been nominated as the party's candidate for mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). Singh expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for believing in him and nominating him for such a crucial position.

BJD's mayor nominee for Berhampur Municipal Corporation is Sanghamitra Dalei (BeMC).

Patnaik congratulated the party's nominees on Twitter and recommended them to surround themselves with people who are committed to serving the community. He wished for the election victories of all three candidates.

Madhusmita Acharya and Giribala Behera have already been named as the Congress's mayor candidates for the BMC and CMC, respectively. The BJP, on the other hand, has yet to name its candidates for mayor in the three municipalities.
