Famous Indian runner Duti Chand recently talked about preparing for the Tokyo Olympics by selling her BMW car. Now there is a difference of opinion between the Odisha government and Dutti about the money. On Thursday, the government made the revelation that it has provided financial assistance of Rs 4.09 crore to Duti Chand since 2015, but Star runner-up has denied it.
According to the Odisha government's Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, the total financial assistance provided to Duti from the state government (after 2015) is Rs 4.09 crore. The financial grant for the medals won in the three crore Asian Games 2018, Rs. 30 lakhs in training and financial assistance due to 2015-19 and Rs. 50 lakhs released in two installments for training preparations for Tokyo Olympics.
After this, Duti said in her statement, 'I am indebted to the Government of Odisha for helping me for so many years, but this four crore rupees is not a right thing. Three crore is the prize money that the Odisha government gave me to win two silver medals at the 2018 Asian Games. This is similar to the way PV Sindhu or any other medalist meets the state government like Haryana or Punjab. It should not be seen as a financial aid for training. Tell that, nothing has been cleared in this matter yet.
