Odisha: According to sources from Odisha In the first phase of panchayat elections, 77.2 percent of eligible voters cast ballots.

The the State election commission  said the final voter turnout in the first phase of the elections, which took place on Wednesday, was 0.55 percent higher than the same round of rural votes in 2017. According to SEC Secretary R N Sahu, voting in Maoist-affected Malkangiri, Koraput, and Kalahandi districts has been promising.

The greatest voter turnout was 84.7 percent in Boudh, while the lowest was 64.96 percent in Ganjam, according to the SEC. Deogarh (83.75), Angul (82.6), Jharsuguda (82.1), Kalahandi (81.1), Subarnapur (81.56), Nabarangpur (80.54), and Koraput (80.54) are among the districts with more than 80% polling (80.2). Malkangiri, a Maoist stronghold, received 77.86 percent of the vote, according to the SEC.

The election was held for 200 Zilla Parishad seats in 71 blocks of the state, with 22,379 booths in 1,669 panchayats. Due to the death of contesting candidates, voting for 13 ward members, six sarpanches, three panchayat samiti members, and one ZP member was postponed.
