BHUBANESWAR: The number of Covid-19 infections in Odisha has decreased, with 1,497 new cases reported on Monday. On Sunday, the state reported 2,106 cases, and on Saturday, 2,603 cases.
According to the Department of State Information and Public Relations, 874 cases were found in quarantine and 623 were local contact cases among the 1,497 positives recorded on Monday. Since January 6, 2022, this is the lowest daily case reported.
Khurda district has recorded the most occurrences, with 251, and Sundergarh district has reported 101. All of Odisha's other 28 districts have reported fewer than 100 cases today.
The daily test positive rate (TPR) has likewise decreased from 3.48 percent the day before to 3.18 percent today. However, in Odisha, the fatality rate by Covid-19 has remained high. On Monday, the state announced additional 20 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 23. Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 8,754 people in Odisha.
Six more fatalities were recorded in Khurda district, with four in Kalahandi, three in Cuttack, two each in Jagatsinghpur and Nayagarh, and one each in Rayagada, Kendrapara, and Jajpur.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions in Class 7 and above, including as universities, colleges, polytechnics, ITIs, and technical colleges, reopened on Monday in complete compliance with Covid-19 protocols.
