PARIS: After a dismal 1-1 home draw with Montpellier, Marseille slowed off their pursuit of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Igor Tudor's team appeared to lose focus at the Stade Velodrome recently as they went five games without winning at home in league play, which may have jeopardised their chances of winning a record-tying 10th domestic championship, as per reports.

At 12 minutes into the game, Arnaud Nordin took advantage of a spectacular counterattack to give the visitors the lead. Before to halftime, a VAR review for handball resulted in Marseille being given a penalties, which Matteo Guendouzi successfully scored to tie the game.

Even though Marseille had the advantage in ball possession in the second half, mid-table Montpellier produced more chances, and Wahbi Khazri even put home goalkeeper Ruben Blanco to the test before the game's end.

"To win, we didn't put forth enough effort. With only one training session (following the international break), we were lacking in rhythm "explained Tudor.

With PSG, who will play Lyon on Sunday, leading the league by six points, Marseille maintained its position in second. But, Lens, who is currently in third position, might pass Marseille if they defeated Rennes on Saturday and earned three points.
