The Indian film "OMG 2," featuring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam, achieved a remarkable feat by amassing an impressive sum of Rs. 17.27 crore on its fifth day of release. Renowned trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted that the movie experienced a remarkable surge in viewership on Independence Day, while also acknowledging that its clash with "Gadar 2" hindered its full potential. Adarsh further expressed that the film could have easily garnered a considerably higher collection had it not coincided with the release of "Gadar 2."

The cumulative earnings of the film over the initial five days reached a substantial figure of Rs. 72.27 crore. To delve into specifics, the film garnered Rs. 10.26 crore on its opening day and followed up with collections of Rs. 15.30 crore and Rs. 17.55 crore on the second and third days, respectively. On the fourth and fifth days, the earnings stood at Rs. 12.06 crore and Rs. 17.10 crore.

As reported by Sacnilk.com, projections indicate that the film's collections could dip to a potential low of Rs. 7 crore on its sixth day. Presented by Viacom18 Studios, "OMG 2" has been produced by Cape of Good Films and Wakaoo. The movie delves into the significance of introducing sex education in schools. It serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2012 release "OMG - Oh My God!" starring Kumar and Paresh Rawal.

In "OMG 2," Akshay Kumar portrays the character of Lord Shiva's messenger, while Pankaj Tripathi takes on the role of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. Yami Gautam, on the other hand, essays the part of a lawyer in the film.

Before its release, there were reports suggesting that the film faced delays due to cautious evaluations by the censor board, owing to its religious theme. However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) eventually granted the film an 'A' (Adults Only) certificate. Subsequent to the film's release, a number of cinema-goers expressed the opinion that the film merited a U/A certificate instead.

In a joint statement, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and the Producers Guild of India (PGI) revealed that the box office collections surged to nearly Rs. 400 crore during the busiest weekend for cinemas and multiplexes since the onset of the Covid pandemic.

The period from August 11 to 13 witnessed an extraordinary lineup of movies contributing to this box office frenzy. From Rajnikanth's "Jailer" to Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's "Gadar 2," Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2," and Chiranjeevi and Tamannah Bhatia's "Bholaa Shankar," the films resonated with audiences, leading to a historic milestone. This achievement was hailed as an "unprecedented all-time theatrical gross box office record" in the industry's century-long history.
