Patna: The figure of corona deaths in Bihar has shown an increase of 2,424 people in a day. Now, the number of people who lost their lives in the second and third wave of Covid in the state has gone up to 12,089 from 9664 so far. This is the second time in six months that the Government has made this change. According to data released by the Health Department, the number of covid deaths in Bihar as of December 2 was 9664, while on December 3, 2425 others were added. The change in government figures comes after the Patna High Court reprimanded it. The high court had reprimanded the government for not including the covid deaths in Buxar in government numbers.

Figures were also changed on June 9: The number of covid deaths was also changed by the government on June 9. Then, 3931 people were added to the Government figures, after which the figure had gone up to 5424. This was followed by a sudden increase of 73 per cent in the Government strength. The change was also made after the case of concealment of figures of covid deaths came to light.

Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey says compensation is going to be paid to all as per new figures of covid deaths in Bihar. A compensation of Rs 4 lakh is to be paid to the next of kin of those who died of infection. He said the deaths were not accounted for earlier but the new data was uploaded on the website after verification.
