The festival of Onam has begun today. The festival is scheduled to continue till August 23. The festival of Onam is celebrated with great fanfare in South India, especially in Kerala. These days, apart from sweet dishes, nine delicious dishes are made, mainly those of Pachdi Kallam, Ollam, Daw, Ghee, Sambhar, Banana, and Papad. They serve these dishes on banana leaves. Onam is a very special and important festival.
