One day shutdown in Puducherry over anti-Hindu remarks by DMK MP A Raja

Chennai: A day-long bandh has been called in Puducherry to protest against Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK Lok Sabha MP A Raja's objectionable remarks about Hindus. During this time, all the shops in the city are closed and the transport system is almost stalled. Criticising DMK MP A Raja's statement, pro-Hindu groups in the Union Territory of Puducherry have called for a day-long bandh. 

Five pro-Hindu groups, including the Hindu Munnani outfit, have called for a one-day bandh, due to which all shops have been closed. Due to this strike, private buses and tempos are missing from the roads. However, some government buses are definitely seen on the roads with police protection. Apart from this, there are also reports of stone pelting on buses. Miscreants hurled stones at government buses in Tamil Nadu near Villianallur.

At the same time, all opposition parties including BJP, and AIADMK has opposed the controversial statement made by DMK MP A Raja about Hindus. AIADMK leaders have termed his statement as anti-Hindu. The BJP has also targeted DMK MP A Raja in this case.
