NEW DELHI: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Varanasi on a day-long visit on Friday March 24, where he will address the One World TB Summit and dedicate and lay the foundation stone of various projects worth more than Rs 1,780 crore.
The prime minister will address at the TB Summit, which is being organised by the Union Health Ministry and the End TB Partnership, on March 24 in honour of World Tuberculosis Day. International delegates from over 30 countries are scheduled to be present at the summit.
One World TB Summit will provide an opportunity to further deliberate upon the targets as the country moves forward to meet its TB elimination objectives.
The TB-Mukt Panchayat programme, the official pan-India implementation of a shorter TB Preventative Treatment (TPT), a family-centric care approach for TB, and the release of India's Annual TB Report 2023 will all be introduced during the event.
The PM will also award select states and districts for their progress towards ending TB.
In March 2018, during the End TB summit held in New Delhi, PM Modi had called on India to achieve TB-related SDG targets by 2025, five years ahead of stipulated time. It will also be an opportunity to showcase learnings from National TB Elimination Programmes.
