Dhaka: Onion prices are making India not only India but its neighboring country Bangladesh. In India, onion prices are being sold at Rs 80 to 100 per kg, while in Bangladesh onion prices have reached Rs 220 per kg. Generally in Bangladesh, onion prices were between 30 to 40 taka i.e. 25 to 35 rupees, but in Bangladesh, onion price is currently being sold at around 260 taka kg i.e. about 220 rupees kg in Indian currency.

It is being told that after stopping exports from India, onion prices in Bangladesh have skyrocketed. Bangladesh's largest opposition party has announced a nationwide protest today on record onion prices and blamed the government for the increased prices. Opposition parties and people came under attack, but the government of Bangladesh has decided to import onions immediately by plane in Afratfari.

Hasan Zahid Tushar, Deputy Press Secretary of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, said that onion is being sourced from aircraft. He said that onion is not being used in any food at PM's residence in Dhaka. Apart from this, PM Sheikh Hasina has said that she has stopped using onions in her food and drink.
