Maharajganj: In Maharajganj district of UP, unidentified miscreants shot and killed 35-year-old lawyer Gaurav Jaiswal, former secretary of the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party. According to the police, the miscreants shot Jaiswal in the head and fled from the spot after committing the incident.

In this connection, further action is being taken by registering an FIR against unknown assailants. Jaiswal belonged to a reputed family. He was an active BJP worker and co-convener of the party's cleanliness campaign. There is an atmosphere of fear in the area due to his death and as soon as the information spread, markets were closed on Tuesday in protest against the incident, while BJP workers demanded the arrest of those involved in the crime.

Simultaneously, Maharajganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Gupta said that the crime was committed when Jaiswal was sitting at a biryani shop near Chiuraha intersection of Sadar police station area. He said that some eyewitnesses told the police that after a dispute with Jaiswal over some issue, the miscreants opened fire on him. The SP said Jaiswal was immediately rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Now the matter is being investigated by the police.
