Operation Ganga: So far, 17,000 Indians have left Ukraine, PM Modi speaks to Putin again

New Delhi: Around 17,000 Indians have left Ukraine since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Modi government is constantly trying to bring back all Indian nationals, including students, from war-torn Ukraine. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Wednesday (March 2, 2022) that about 17,000 Indians have left Ukraine since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So far, 3,352 people have reached India in 15 flights.

At the same time, PM Narendra Modi has also spoken to Russian President Putin today, in which the news of talks on the safe evacuation of Indians has come to light. Speaking to the media, Arindam Bagchi said, "There has been a sharp increase in the number of Indians leaving Ukraine. During the last 24 hours, six flights have reached India, taking the total number of flights to India to 15 and the total number of Indians returning from these flights is 3,352.'' 

He further said "We now estimate that about 17,000 Indian nationals have left Ukraine since our advisory was issued. Also, 15 more flights are going to operate in the next 24 hours and some of them are on the way.''
