The importance and characteristic of ordnance factory day, which is celebrated on March 18 every year, is very important in India. Each year, the Ordnance Factory, Field Gun Factory, Small Arms Factory, Ordnance Parachute Factory, and Ordnance Equipment Factory celebrate the day with great fanfare at ordnance factories in which all categories of employees participate in various organized events. Ordnance Factory Day 2020 Special: Ordnance factories spread across the country have different kinds of weapons and war-related equipment. Thanks to ordnance factories, India is becoming stronger by promoting indigenous resolve in the defense sector day by day. In view of their contribution to the defense and development of the country, the day of March 18 is made by the Government of India as ordnance factory day. Like every year, this year too, ordnance factory day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. Various events were organized across the country. Under this, Ordnance Factory Day was celebrated on Monday, March 18 at Ordnance Factory, Itarsi. The exhibition was also held where an exhibition of ordnance products was organized.

History of Ordnance Factory Day: It is a familiar fact that the Government of India declared March 18 as a celebration of Ordnance Factory Day every year. The Ordnance Factory Board is popularly known as the country's "fourth weapon of defense." The remaining three weapons - navy, air force, and army. Each of them has its own celebration day. As the Ordnance Factory is the fourth weapon of defense, the government felt the need for it to be followed as an ordnance factory day on a special day. The day was announced on the 200th anniversary of the Ordnance Factory i.e. Anthem Carriage Agency known as a gun and rock factory established in the country at Kashipur, Kolkata in the year 1801. For information, in the year 1775, the East India Company praised the foundation of the Ordnance Board at Fort William in Calcutta. It represents the official commencement of Indian army ordnance. Ordnance Factories aims to create self-sufficiency in defense production and create awareness among the general public about ammunition and weapons.
