Odisha CM releases Rs 60 lakh fund for stray animals during lockdown

Bhubaneswar: A lockdown has been imposed in Odisha in view of the increasing cases of corona. CM Naveen Patnaik has released a fund of Rs 60 lakh to avoid food crisis in front of stray animals. The decision was taken to ensure that stray animals are not facing problems in all urban areas during the lockdown. 

State government officials have informed that lockdown has been imposed across the state to prevent corona epidemic. Stray dogs and cattle are deprived of food. In this case, CM Patnaik has allocated Rs 60 lakh from his relief fund. As per information, the fund will be available to five Municipal Corporations, 48 Municipalities and 61 Notified Area Councils (NAC). Urban local bodies will provide food to stray animals through various voluntary organizations.

A report from Jajpur district said that the local administration has fed monkeys, dogs and cows at Mahavinayak temple in Chandikhol area on Sunday. The district administration has also urged people to feed stray animals during the lockdown which started on May 5.
