Bhubaneswar: The number of infected people in Odisha has increased to 6,33,302 after 10,321 more people were confirmed with corona virus infection, while the death toll due to infection has gone up to 2,357. An official of the health department has informed in this regard.
He said the number of patients undergoing treatment in the state has gone up to 1,04,539. The official informed that out of 10,321 new cases, 5,779 infected were confirmed from various quarantine centres and the rest were confirmed during testing of people exposed to the infected patient. Khurda district recorded the highest number of 1,566 new cases, followed by Sundergarh with 819 and Cuttack with 731. Less than 100 cases were reported in five districts, 77 cases were reported in both Dhenkanal and Malkangiri districts, 73 cases were registered in Sonepur, 56 in Gajapati and 54 in Kandhamal.
The Health Department said on Twitter, "It is sad to report that 22 covid-19 patients died during treatment in hospitals. In Khurda, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Sundergarh, three people each died due to infection while two each in Gajapati, Raigada and Koraput districts".
