Bhubaneswar: At least 11 people were tragically killed and 15 others were reported injured in the Kotapad district of Odisha due to the overturning of a pickup van on Sunday. Giving information about this, a police officer has said that the incident took place in Murtahandi under the Kotapad police station area.

He said that the accident took place when about 30 people were returning to their village after joining mourning from a relative from neighboring Chhattisgarh state. While giving information about this, Superintendent of Police of Koraput, Varun Guntupalli said that 10 people died on the spot. He said that 15 injured have been admitted to a hospital in Kotapad.

The condition of 10 of the injured is said to be critical. District Magistrate of Kotapad Madhusudan Mishra said that the passengers were going from Sindhiguda village in Odisha towards Kulta village in Chhattisgarh. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment. According to the police, the condition of 10 people in the injured is critical. Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the van to overturn and the accident occurred.
