The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has ordered 921 electric buses from Tata Motors (BMTC). Convergence Energy Services Limited issued the tender (CESL). For a period of 12 years, Tata Motors will be in charge of providing, running, and maintaining these new 12-meter electric buses. The bus that will be sold to BMTC is a Tata Starbus. Tata Motors promises that the vehicle, which was created domestically, will include all facilities.
G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation said, “We are delighted to confirm the order of 921 electric buses to Tata Motors. This order is paramount for Bengaluru’s growing need for clean, sustainable urban mass mobility. BMTC is happy to induct modern electric buses that will attract maximum ridership for eco-friendly public transport.”

In the past 30 days, West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) have each placed orders with Tata Motors for 1,180 and 1,500 electric buses, respectively. Research & development centres of Tata Motors have been working tirelessly to develop cutting-edge mobility solutions fueled by alternative fuel technology, such as battery-electric, hybrid, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen fuel cell technology. More than 715 electric buses, totalling more than 40 million kilometres, have been provided by Tata Motors to various Indian cities to far.
