Over 9,600 schools get funds from Atal Innovation Mission

Niti Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has so far funded 9,606 schools in 720- plus districts of the country for the establishment of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs), Parliament was informed on Monday.

Rajya Sabha that the Centre is pushing schools to provide science and technology exposure to kids so that they can be exposed to futuristic technological platforms. AIM has been constructing world-class incubators dubbed Atal Incubation Centres (AICs) at colleges, institutions, and corporates, among others, to create an ever-evolving ecosystem of start-ups and entrepreneurs, Singh said.

He noted that AIM has successfully operationalized 68 Atal Incubation Centres across India alongside universities, organisations, and private enterprises. AIM works with schools to establish a network of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) with the goal of cultivating one million Neoteric Innovators in India. The goal of this programme is to encourage young brains to be curious, creative, and imaginative, as well as to instil skills such as design mentality, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, rapid calculations, and measurements, he said.
