New Delhi: At least 13 common people have lost their lives in alleged firing by security forces in the Mon area of Nagaland. Police have said they are engaged in the operation to find out if it is a case of mistaken identity. The army has issued a 'Court of Inquiry' direction to the incident. The army has said that in the meantime one army man was martyred and several other soldiers were injured. The Army has said that the incident and what happened thereafter is "very regrettable" and that this unfortunate incident of loss of lives is being dealt with at the highest level.

Politics has become even more heated in this case. Rahul Gandhi tweeted that the incident is heartbreaking. The India Government should respond to this. What exactly is the Home Ministry doing when neither the citizens nor the security personnel are safe in our land? Mamata Banerjee wrote a worrying point with Nagaland. Expressed heartfelt sorrow towards the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. We must ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that all victims get justice.

Owaisi wrote today expressing grief over the families of all those who lost their lives in Nagaland. Home Minister Amit Shah should be dismissed. All their peace agreements with fringe groups were to cheat. In November, rebels killed 7 officers in Manipur. There is no peace in the North East, only violence.
