Oxygen Express reached Bengaluru from Jharkhand today

Bengaluru: The first Oxygen Express carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen to Karnataka has reached Bengaluru on Tuesday. According to South Western Railway, the Oxygen Express with 120 tonnes of oxygen in 6 cryogenic containers left  from Jharkhand on Monday and reached the Indian container depot in Whitefield on Tuesday morning.

South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Anish Hegde has informed that a 'green corridor' was constructed for easy travel of Oxygen Express. He said the Railways has constructed green corridors and transported oxygen to many parts of the country. The official also said that more than 4700 metric tonnes of oxygen has been supplied through Oxygen Express for corona patients in the country so far. The demand for oxygen has increased manifold due to the ever increasing number of new cases of infection in Karnataka.

In a tweet, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, "Oxygen Express has reached Bengaluru through green corridor with 6 containers of medical oxygen from Tatanagar to provide relief to corona patients". Meanwhile, new cases of corona virus infection have fallen to 3.29 lakh in India after 14 days, with a total number of infectioncases in the country now increasing to 2,29,92,517.
