New Delhi: Former Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram is in Tihar jail. A Congress delegation went to meet him. But this meeting could not be held. By the time the Congress delegation arrived at the jail on Friday, the time to meet the prisoners had ended. The delegation to meet Chidambaram included Mukul Wasnik, Manicka Tagore, Avinash Pandey and many other leaders. The delegation met the Jail Superintendent and look for Chidambaram's condition.
A member of the delegation said that he had gone to meet Chidambaram at the behest of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. Appearing in the special CBI court on behalf of the former Union Finance Minister, to provide Z-security security inside the prison, kept in a separate cell, taking medicines prescribed by his doctors and carrying his glasses, western-style toilet due to old age there was a demand to provide facilities.
The court allowed these facilities after looking into all the points. The jail number seven, which P. Chidambaram is housed in, is designed for inmates in the age group of 18 to 20 years. Ratul Puri, accused in the AgustaWestland helicopter case, was also kept in jail number seven. However, Chidambaram got relief from the court in the Aircel Maxis case.
