New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has given a call to support PM Narendra Modi in the battle against Kovid-19. Considered a staunch opponent of Modi, Chidambaram called the war against Corona a 'historic moment' and Modi as the commander and the public as soldiers.

Chidambaram, in a statement, also gave ten suggestions to the central government for this difficult time. In which, besides putting money in bank accounts of poor, deprived, farmers and laborers, it has been suggested to cut GST by 5% from April 1 to June 30 on all essential goods and services. Chidambaram said on Tuesday that the 21-day nationwide lockdown of PM Modi is a historic moment. We should focus on the lockdown leaving all of our debates until March 24, which is the beginning of a new battle against Corona.

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram further said that it is the responsibility of all of us to give our full support to the PM, Central and State Governments. A senior Congress official, however, termed it as Chidambaram's personal opinion and said that it was not the opinion of the party.
