NEW DELHI: Congress has strongly criticised the detention of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah in Jammu and Kashmir. Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that he had already warned the Centre of audacity to take action against Jammu and Kashmir. Chidambaram said that the central government seems to have been adamant on doing so now.

It may be mentioned that former Jammu and Kashmir CHIEF Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have been detained in their respective homes at midnight. Section 144 has been imposed in Kashmir, with all modes of communication, mobile, internet, broadband and landline services suspended. Reacting to the Kashmir issue, Congress veteran Leader P Chidambaram said that the detention of Kashmiri leaders is like crushing the democratic voice.

Chidambaram tweeted, "House internment of the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir is an indication that the government will crush all democratic values and principles to achieve its objective. In another tweet, Chidambaram wrote, "Before the end of the day, we will be told what is going to be serious in Jammu and Kashmir. I'm waiting.'
