Kochi: P Parameswaran, one of the senior-most pracharaks of the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), has died at the age of 93. Former Bharatiya Jan Sangh leader P Parameswaran breathed his last at 12.10 pm on Saturday night. Parameswaran has also held the post of founder-director of the Indian Think Center. According to media reports, he was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment at Ottapalam in Palakkad district of Kerala, where he last breathed.

During the time of Parameswaran Jana Sangh, worked with senior leaders like Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and LK Advani. In the year 2018, he was awarded the country's second highest award Padma Vibhushan and in 2004 Padma Shri. The leader of the Sangh Parivar and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was known as P Parameswaran by the name of Parmeshwar Ji. He has been a veteran writer, poet, researcher and noted Sangh thinker.

Parameswaran served as the secretary of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh between 1967 and 1971. From 1971 to 1977, he held the position of Vice President. He has also been the director of the Deen Dayal Research Institute. His tenure was between 1977 and 1982. His body will be kept in Kochi headquarters in Kerala. People will pay their last respects from Sunday morning itself. He will be cremated on Sunday evening in Muhamma itself. He was also jailed for 16 months for the All India Satyagraha during the Emergency period.
