Today is the death anniversary of former PM PV Narasimha Rao. He became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1971 and strictly enforced the Land Reforms and Land Ceiling Acts. He obtained reservations for the lower castes in politics during his tenure. During his tenure, President's rule was imposed to counter the Jai Andhra movement.
