Noted singer Adnan Sami has been awarded the Padma Shri by President Ram Nath Kovind last Monday. Recently he has given his reaction. He remembered his father with moist eyes and thanked the Government of India for this respect. Adnan Sami has been honoured for his outstanding contribution to the field of music. Talking to a website recently, he said, "It is a great honour for me. I don't have words. The love of the countrymen is behind it for me. I have received this honour for years of hard work, blood and sweat. Though there were difficulties, I continued to grow my morale.''
He further said, "In receiving the honour, I felt as if the people of the Government of India had told me that it was for your work for us, so it is very valuable to me.'' Recalling the time when Sami reached Rashtrapati Bhavan, said, 'I was sitting in Rashtrapati Bhavan waiting for the award ceremony to begin. I was quite emotional.'' Adnan has the experience of playing more than 30 instruments.
Talking about his musical travel contribution, Adnan said, "My parents, my wife, have played a very important role in this whole journey. My father gave me opportunities. Because there are ups and downs in every person's life. In the meantime, my father also gave me his shoulder to cry. Also, a large part of my life is being lived by my music mother Asha Bhonsle. My first song Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao was released with Asha Ji. I first met Ashaji at the age of 10, although I first met her in India, she encouraged me to come here from Canada. I came to Mumbai on her advice.''
At the same time, he further said, "After coming to Mumbai, I did not know anyone other than Ashaji. But I want to thank her family for the love they gave me. I came to India in 1999 The first song was released in 2000. After that, I fell in love with India.''
