Padmini Kolhapure is one of the most loved actresses of her times. The actress was born on November 1, 1965, in a Maharashtrian family. She had made her debut as a child artist at the age of 10 with the film, Ishq Ishq Ishq. On her birthday let us recall an interesting incident of her life.
At the age of 21, she had ran away to get married to producer, Pradeep Sharma. In 1986, Padmini Kolhapure had met Pradeep Sharma while shooting for his film, Aisa Pyaar Kahan. Padmini was playing the lead role opposite veteran actor, Mithun Chakraborty. Her family was never supportive of her love marriage.
In an interview speaking about her marriage she said, "Shivangi and Shakti were totally supportive when I got married. We got married (in 1986) in producer Ashok Thakeria’s house (ex-husband of good friend Poonam Dhillon). Shivangi was pregnant and was advised bed rest, so she wasn’t part of the wedding. Yes, my parents were upset but they eventually reconciled. I began living with them after my son Priyank was born. I’m glad my son grew up with those sanskars."
In the same interview, Padmini Kolhapure further reveals that she feels that things would have been different if she would have waited for her parents' approval. Padmini had further expressed that the biggest regret of her life is to hurt her parents by running away with Pradeep Sharma.
On the career front, Padmini Kolhapure made her film debut with director Ravi Tandon’s movie ‘Zindagi’ where she played as a child role along with Mala Sinha, Sanjeev Kumar and Vinod Mehra in 1976. In 1980, Padmini acted as a leading role in the movie ‘Insaaf Ka Tarazu’ with Raj Babbar and Deepak Parashar. After 2000, Padmini appeared in several movies including ‘Souten: The Other Woman’, ‘Karmayogi’ and ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’. She also starred The famous actress Padmini acted almost 80 films. Her one of the most successful movies was Prem Rog with Rishi Kapoor.
