ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan National Assembly is currently in session, with a major no-confidence resolution filed by the combined opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Despite the fact that the resolution has been added to the meeting's agenda, it may not be brought up for consideration on the same day.
The National Assembly Secretariat released a 15-point 'Orders of the Day' for the National Assembly session on Thursday, which contained the no-confidence resolution, but owing to the death of MNA Khayal Zaman, it is expected that normal house proceedings will not take place on the first day of the sitting.
It is legislative practise for the first session after an MNA's death to be limited to prayers and tributes from fellow legislators. According to sources, the National Assembly speaker may postpone the meeting till March 30 or 31.
At a break with precedent, the ruling PTI has yet to summon a meeting of its parliamentary party, which is customarily held before any National Assembly session, whilst the opposition is holding its meeting in Parliament House before of the session.
