Lahore: Pakistan's anti-corruption agency has given permission to file two more corruption cases against former PM Nawaz Sharif in the accountability court. A meeting of the regional board was convened here on Friday under the leadership of Director General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Shahzad Salim.
The board also spoke on additional corruption cases against 69-year-old Nawaz, his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and 13 others in money laundering and disproportionate assets. Similarly, the board also allowed the filing of another case against Nawaz Sharif, Jio Media Group founder Mir Shakeel ur Rahman and 2 others in 54 Kanal land case. Nab Lahore has sent both the cases to its chairman judge (retired) Javed Iqbal for final approval before filing the accountability court.
An official said, "After the approval of the NAB chairman, both the cases against the Sharif family members will be filed in the Lahore Accountability Court next week." Sharif family is accused of rigging seven billion Pakistani rupees. The official said that 'Nawaz, Shahbaz and Maryam have been declared as prime suspects in this case.' NAB will present 100 prosecution witnesses against the suspects.
