Pakistan: Hindu student commits suicide, knowing that she will be blown away

ISLAMABAD: Recently, the Judicial Commission set up to investigate the case of Namrata Chandani, a Hindu student found dead under suspicious circumstances in Sindh province of Pakistan, has prepared its report. The Commission claimed that the Hindu student of Dental College had committed suicide in her hostel. The commission has categorically rejected the murder. It was revealed from the last post-mortem report in November that Namrata was murdered after the rape. Namrata, who hails from Ghotki district of Sindh province, was studying at Asifa Dental College in Larkana. On 16 September, she was found hanging from the hostel room's noose.

According to sources, the commission of inquiry has sent its 17-page report to the home department of Sindh province. The Commission said that Namrata was under great stress due to the rejection of the marriage proposal from one of her friends. She committed suicide due to stress and frustration.

According to the information received, this commission, headed by the District and Sessions Judge of Larkana, has prepared this report on the basis of questioning of students, teachers, and staff of Dental College including eyewitnesses. The commission also reviewed police investigations, post mortems, and DNA reports. Apart from this, forensic data of suspects and other evidence were also investigated along with Namrata's mobile phone and laptop.
