Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the team for the 2019 Cricket World. The ommision of Mohammad Amir from the world cup team came as surpise for the fans. He has played an integral part in Pakistan’s triumph in ICC tournaments like the Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup but has seen his form nosedive in the last 18 months. After his match-winning performance in the final of the Champions Trophy final, Amir has taken only five ODI wickets at a dismal average of 92.60 per wicket. In the 101 overs he has bowled since then, Amir has only 6 scalps, which is the worst numbers among all bowlers to have bowled 600 balls in this period. former pacer Shoaib Akhtar still has a lot of concerns regarding the fast-bowling department for Pakistan at the World Cup.

Akhtar took to Twitter and wrote,“My biggest concern is the pace dept. This squad lacks a leader of the pace attack, leader of the herd who is aggressive and goes out to attack. Hopefully, Amir can be that. In case that doesn't happen, @RealHa55an has to step up and fill that role along with @JunaidkhanREAL.”

however, Amir will travel to England for one-off T20 and five ODIs against the hosts before the World Cup. PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, at the announcement of the squad, had said the side had been picked according to the conditions and included reliable batters, trusted wicket-taking bowlers and dynamic fielders. The deadline to announce the provisional squad for the World Cup was April 23 but the management can make changes to the team till May 23.
