Islamabad: Unidentified assailants attacked policemen guarding a polio vaccination team in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Sunday. In this attack, 4 policemen have been killed, while two policemen are said to be injured. According to the information, this attack took place in the Gul Iman area of the Tank district. According to the agency, unidentified gunmen went door-to-door and ambushed a police mobile van engaged in the polio vaccination drive.

Locals have informed that there was a lot of firing between the police and the attackers. Two policemen injured in the firing have been admitted to a local hospital. According to Pakistani media, the police were attacked while taking the polio vaccination team. As of now, no group has claimed any responsibility for the attack. Police have launched a search operation in the area. Locals said there was a stampede at the spot after the attack. Because of the attack on the police, no one understood anything. Heavy police force reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. The incident is being investigated.  

This is not the first case of an attack on police. Even before this, polio teams have often been attacked in Pakistan. In fact, fundamentalists believe that taking polio medicine will cause impotence in children, which is why they often attack polio and other vaccination teams.
