New Delhi: Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday fired at a earth-mover machine engaged in cleaning bushes along the international border. Official sources said this is the second 'ceasefire violation' by Pakistani Rangers in four months. The Border Security Force (BSF), which is guarding the international border, has neither confirmed nor denied the incident.

According to sources, Pakistani rangers spotted the bullet proof JCB machine cleaning the bushes at around 8.15am in Vikram Post area of Arnia sector on the outskirts of Jammu after which they fired several rounds, though no casualty has been reported in the incident. Sources said BSF also fired a few rounds in retaliation. At present, the situation has returned to normal and there is peace on the international border. On May 2, Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire by firing on the international border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district, the first ceasefire violation by Pakistan after the two countries signed a new agreement to maintain peace on the border on February 25 this year.

Last month, BSF killed two Pakistani infiltrators who tried to sneak into the Samba sector after repeatedly ignoring warnings. Meanwhile, at a flag meeting on the international border in Samba district on Saturday, the BSF handed over the body of a Pakistani national to Pakistani Rangers, who died in a hospital after being shot dead here.
