The Indian Wrestling Federation, Ministry of Sports and Ministry of External Affairs have given assurances to give visas to wrestlers from China and Pakistan for the Asian Wrestling Championships to be held here from 18 to 23 February. India's relations with Pakistan have not been good, while Chinese wrestlers are preparing to be granted visas to play in this championship even in the midst of fears of the coronavirus spreading from the city of Wuhan in China. If the wrestlers of Pakistan get a visa, then they will come to India to play in this championship after 29 years.

The last time Pakistan played in this championship was in Delhi in 1991. Then it was at the bottom of the ninth position with a silver medal. India is talking of giving visas to wrestlers from both neighboring countries to fulfill the Olympic Charter. The Indian government has suspended the facility of e-visa for the people of China because there is a fear of the spread of the corona virus. The WFI is expecting a 40-strong Chinese squad for the championship.

WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said, "I have met Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar, I sincerely hope that there will be no problem. Wrestlers from both countries are expected to participate. They have assured me that there will be no problem." The China Wrestling Federation (CWA) wrote a letter to WFI urging that their wrestlers be helped to participate in the championship. Sharan said, "The China Wrestling Federation wrote a letter to us requesting that 40 wrestlers have been tested and none of them are prone to this virus. They have been kept separate. All wrestlers will have to go through precautionary steps in India as well."
